For the past 13 years, the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has been a dominant force in superhero movies. It has been a dream come true seeing the success of these movies along with the brilliance of connecting each film. With the MCU expanding to television with WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and Loki, fans can get deeper into how each show and movie are merely scratching the surface of what’s in store.
2021 has been a huge year for the MCU with shows on Disney Plus, two feature films in theaters (Black Widow and Shang-Chi), and two more feature films to premiere this year (Eternals and Spider-Man: No Way Home). Here are 10 MCU spoilers posts on Reddit (found at r/MarvelStudiosSpoilers) to keep you informed on what’s to come!
1) The Surprise Role of Evan Peters
Fans erupted in shock and excitement at the reveal of Evan Peters’ cameo as Pietro Maximoff (Quicksilver) in WandaVision. Speculations ran rampant as many believed this was an introduction to the existence of the X-Men in the MCU. It was later revealed not to be Pietro, which was disappointing, but it was good to see him reprising this role. U/LamarcusAldrige1234 shares a post of the lengths Marvel Studios goes through to keep spoilers to a minimum, as indicated by Kat Dennings (Darcy Lewis).
2) The Official Title of Black Panther II
U/magikarpcatcher shared this post regarding the new Black Panther film. Earlier this year, the sequel’s official title was announced to be Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. This was a bittersweet announcement with the unexpected passing of Chadwick Boseman in 2020. Kevin Feige has stated that Marvel would not recast Boseman’s role as T’Challa, and the sequel will focus more on characters in the first film and introduce new characters such as RiRi Williams (Ironheart). As a Black Panther fanatic, it will be difficult not seeing Boseman’s portrayal of T’Challa in the new movie. However, I will definitely see the sequel so more films featuring Wakanda can be brought to the big and small screen.
3) Our First Look at Deadpool in the MCU with Korg
Another event sending fans into a frenzy was seeing Deadpool and the MCU character Korg (Thor: Ragnarok) together in a YouTube video reacting to the latest Ryan Reynolds film, Free Guy. This was seen as Deadpool’s official entrance into the MCU since Fox’s historic deal brings several characters back to Marvel. Deadpool and Korg’s relationship onscreen was hilarious, especially Korg’s detailed answer to Deadpool’s question about getting into the MCU. Thanks to u/MJPPLUS for this post!
4) “It Was Agatha All Along!”
U/kothuboy21 shares the best villain reveals of the MCU! What better way than to use a catchy song to reveal Wanda’s neighbor, “Agnes,” as Agatha Harkness. At the end of episode seven of WandaVision, the song “It Was Agatha All Along” shows Agatha orchestrating events to learn about Wanda’s power. Kathryn Hahn was impressive as Harkness, and it’s unknown if she’ll reprise this role in the future.
5) The What If….? Series
U/Samoht99 posted the official trailer to the series “What If…?” which premiered August 11 on Disney Plus. It’s been interesting seeing how one decision or a change in circumstance could change the outcome of someone’s destiny. The timing of this series is excellent, with variations of the timeline branching out because of the events in Loki.
6) Spider-Man: No Way Home Trailer
We finally got the highly anticipated trailer to Spider-Man: No Way Home. Peter Parker is dealing with the aftermath of being revealed as Spider-Man by Mysterio. Peter seeks out the help of Dr. Strange for a spell to get people to forget about his secret identity. As we see in the trailer, there are catastrophic consequences when Peter tampers with Dr. Strange’s magic. Alfred Molina reprises his role as Doctor Octopus, originally appearing in Spider-Man 2 with Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker/Spider-Man. Many have speculated about Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield reprising their roles as Spider-Man since the multiverse is a key factor in this movie. Thanks to u/MSSmods for keeping us excited!
7) “He Who Remains” Poster
Johnathan Majors was announced to portray Kang the Conqueror in the MCU and made his debut in the season finale of Loki. His role as “He Who Remains” is a variant of Kang the Conqueror, who is set to be a bigger threat than Thanos. If the season finale of Loki is any indicator, Kang the Conqueror will be a dangerous foe. U/masongraves_ shares this official poster of “He Who Remains.”
8) Loki Renewed for Season Two
Unlike WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, season two of Loki was announced during the season finale. It’s not clear when or how season two will fit into the MCU, but I’m sure everything will unfold as it always does. U/ViggieSmallss reminds us of the good news.
9) Announcement of The Mutants
X-Men fans rejoice! With the movie rights returning to Marvel Studios after the Disney/Fox merger, the MCU can finally introduce the X-Men. No details have been released, but we know this is happening! U/PointofGeeks posted our first look at this future project.
10) Anthony Mackie is Captain America
At the end of Avengers: Endgame, Steve Rogers passes the shield to Sam Wilson. Rogers felt Wilson was the one he would trust to be the next Captain America. U/CyborgTomHank shares a post of Anthony Mackie’s (Sam Wilson) take on Wilson’s emotions receiving the shield from Rogers. This was a responsibility and role Wilson didn’t want to take on, as we saw throughout The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. However, Wilson eventually took on the role and became Captain America. I’m excited Sam Wilson is the new Captain America and will receive his own film!
That’s it for our list of the top 10 MCU Spoilers from Reddit you need to check out! Marvel fans have a lot to look forward to, as new releases are always on the horizon!
